Two Tennessee Lawmakers got restated after protesting scandal

The Nashville Metro Council voted to reinstate Justin Jones on Monday, April 10, and Memphis commissioners reinstated Justin Pearson on Wednesday, April 12.
Justin Pearson and Justin Jones, who was expelled last week from the Republican-led Tennessee House for joining a protest on the House floor demanding stricter gun control, are seeking reinstatement.
Nashville’s Metro Council was called to a meeting on Monday, April 11th. During this it voted to reinstate Jones as his own temporary successor, effectively giving him his seat back for the time being.
Pearson and Jones started a chant of “power to the people” using a megaphone.
April 9, 2023, Lowery said that the protest at the capitol came from the shooting at a Christian school in Nashville that killed three 9-year-old children and three adults.
This was “understandable given the fact that the gun laws in the State of Tennessee are becoming nearly non-existent.
“I believe it was an attempt to scare the opposition, and they should still be removed from their position in the office because they broke rules. No one is above the laws and rules.” Manager of Engineering Services, Tristan Weaver said.
“When they expelled us, they had no idea that this was going to happen. Well, we say to that that there comes a time when time itself is ready for a change, and that time has come to Nashville. Speaker Cameron Sexton, you can either move on over, or we’ll move on over you because we’re moving on. And so, friends, Nashville and Tennessee, we hope you’ll join us in the People’s House, because no matter what happens here today, we have a speaker who may not respect the results, so we need people to show up in the chamber and let him know that we will not allow him to stand in the doorways of the Legislature like governors of the past and politicians of the past stood in the doorways of schools, challenging desegregation.
We won’t let him stand in the doorways of democracy anymore.” Justin Pearson said in his speech on Apr 11, 2023.
