Texas Mall Shooting

A shooting at the outlet mall in Allen, Texas, occurred on May 6th, 2023. 8 people have passed away and 7 have been injured.

The victims of the shooting include Kyu Cho, Cindy Cho, James Cho, Daniela Mendoza, Sofia Mendoza, Christian LaCour, Aishwarya Thatikonda, and Elio Cumana Rivas. The Cho family had 2 children, and one of the children, William Cho, survived. He is the only one in his family that made it out. Daniela and Sofia Mendoza are two elementary students that had lost their lives because of the shooting. Christian LaCour was a security guard at the mall and got shot while trying to help people escape. Aishwarya Thatikonda was an engineer and was visiting the mall with her friends. Her parents live in India. Elio Cumana-Rivas was working in the US to support his parents, who live in Venezuela.

The person liable for all of this chaos is a man named Mauricio Garcia. Investigators learned that Garcia had tattoos of the Nazi symbol on it. He also had an obsession with guns and mass shootings. Garcia would post about Nazi ideology too. He had no previous criminal records, and had worked as a security guard. He was killed in the shooting by a police officer. 

The US has had over 200 mass shootings in the year 2023. This one is the second deadliest mass shooting of the year.
