Lady Cougars win Fort Smith Invitational!

Ellie Bunnell, Writer

This past weekend, on September 22nd, the freshmen and eighth grade volleyball teams competed in the Fort Smith Invitational. The Fort Smith Invitational is a volleyball tournament with volleyball teams coming from all of North West Arkansas. The freshmen girls won first place in the gold division and the eighth grade team got third place in the bronze division.

The freshmen team won their first game against Alma. The scores were 25-16, and 25-9. Then the Lady Cougars won their second game against Heritage. Finally, they won their third game, putting them first in the tournament.

Macie Grams ended up getting MVP of the tournament. Macie is the captain and setter for the Cougars. Last year she was playing on the ninth grade team as an eighth grader. Macie is a great leader who has helped lead her team to victory.

Right now the Cougars have won every game besides their game against Ramsey on September 19th. The Cougars are looking forward to the rest of their successful season, but the freshmen are not ready to part ways with their beloved team.
