Mahalya – A Girl with Many Talents

Playing sports in school helps bring teamwork and communication skills, as well as learning how to kick other teams to the curb! Volleyball is a perfect example of bringing these two things together! Volleyball is a team sport where two teams of six players are separated by a net. Both teams try to score points by grounding the ball on the other team’s court under rules.

Mahalya Ahmadou is a 9th grader at Chaffin Junior High, and she is on our outstanding Volleyball team. Mahalya is a right side hitter, which if you didn’t know (I didn’t), they hit and block the ball. When serves are short, she has to pass it to the setter which in then passes the ball back to her and allows Mahalya to hit the ball. She has been playing the sport since the 7th grade, and is number 19 on the team.

Mahalya is a band member, and plays the flute. She has always wanted to play the instrument, and has been in the band since the 7th grade. She really enjoys when people cheer for her as she plays her instrument, because she gets nervous playing in front of such a big crowd. She likes to watch the football games and cheer for the Charmers and Cheer team! Mahalya is such a sweet girl, and we wish her the best in her volleyball and band careers!
