Movies To Throw Your Popcorn At

Nevaehona Williams

Looking to have a spooky movie marathon? Here are some original scary movies that most people watch during the month of October. Personally, I have never seen The Shining, Psycho, and The Exorcist. A lot of people talk about how good those movies are, so I may try watching them this year.

I have seen Frankenstein, Jaws, and HalloweenFrankenstein is about a Swiss man who brings to life an artificial man from pieces of corpses. Jaws is about a killer shark who causes chaos on a beach and 3 people hunt it down. The last movie, Halloween, is about Michael Myers going to jail for killing his sister. He is sent to jail, but escapes back to his hometown looking for his next victim.

All these movies will give you nightmares. I am just warning you ahead of time. I had to sleep with the light on for a week because my anxiety levels went up. Some more movies I would recommend are Us, A Quiet Place, Hush, The Conjuring,  and Paranormal Activity

Us is about a woman named Adelaide Wilson and her family who are attacked by a group of menacing doppelgangers. A Quiet Place is about a wife and a husband who struggle to survive and raise their children in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by blind extraterrestrial creatures with an acute sense of hearing. Hush is about a deaf writer who moves to the woods for a solitary life, but must fight a killer off. The Conjuring is about a paranormal investigator and a demonologist who has been summoned to Carolyn Perron’s home. The Perrons and their daughters have moved into this farmhouse and the paranormal has made itself known. The last movie, Paranormal Activity, is about a couple who have a supernatural presence in their home. They put up a camera to find out what is haunting them.

The last movie marathon includes The Goonies, Hocus Pocus, The Corpse Bride, Beetlejuice, The Addams Family, and Halloweentown. If you’re like my mom and don’t wanna throw your popcorn or have nightmares, then watch these movies. They are family and kid-friendly. I’m not going to lie when I want to clear my head from nightmares, I usually watch these movies. These are ones that literally everyone has seen and they are amazing. They come on Freeform for “31 Nights of Halloween.” They play different and sometimes the same movies every night until October is over. So one of these days you will catch the movie if you already haven’t.
