Recently on the Billboard Hot 100, BTS was the first group ever to have a non-English single debut at No.1, with 42.8 million streams on Spotify and 70 million streams on YouTube. The song’s name is “Life Goes On”. Now, it may not sound like much, but with this many streams, BTS fans got the song to No.1.  In September, they made their first English track “Dynamite”. It broke YouTube records with 101.1 million streams in 24 hours. This also helped them win their first Grammy award. The longest a video has ever been trending on YouTube is 13 minutes with 10 million views. It overpassed 10 million streams and 1 million likes in 10 minutes. “Dynamite” was trending for 12 hours straight. Their album Be also topped the Billboard 200. Taylor Swift and BTS are the only two acts in history to debut an album and a song on the Billboard 200. With their Map of the Soul: 7 album, they were number 1 on iTunes in over 91 countries and regions. They are the first K-pop boy band to ever top the US album charts.

Now, a lot of people ask, who is BTS? I will tell you. BTS is a South Korean pop boy band. It consists of 7 members: Jin, Jungkook, Jimin, J-Hope, RM, Suga, and V. They all come from South Korea. They first debuted as a group in 2013. It has been 7 years since they debut, and now they are the biggest K-pop boy band internationally with over 40 million fans. Their fandom is called ARMY. Which stands for Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth. BTS also refers to ARMY as bulletproof armour. You may ask, why would they call their fandom that name? They do that because BTS’s fans mean so much to them. They keep going because they have such a strong fanbase. ARMY is also considered one of the most dangerous fandoms ever because they are so devoted to BTS they will not let anyone slander their name. At concerts are called “ocean”, because when you look at the audience their light sticks look gorgeous.

If you’re still not interested in BTS, now let me give you a little more information. BTS concert tickets are one of the hardest tickets to get. BigHit Entertainment released tickets and after 20 minutes, they were all sold out. They have sold over 20 million albums in 7 years which makes them the best Korean act of all time. Before the album Be was even released there were over 3.42 million pre-orders. Before you leave, I’m going to give you a quote from RM, the leader of the group. “No matter who you are, where you’re from, your skin color, your gender identity; just speak yourself. Find your name and find your voice by speaking yourself”.
