Reality TV Changed Forever: Keeping Up with the Kardashians

The world can truly say that it is the end of an era. With pain stricken hearts all around, producers have finally announced the finale of one of America’s most iconic shows; Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The show is ending their 20th season in early 2021. The choice of ending the show was made by the Kardashian-Jenner family.

Some who don’t know the history of the Kardashians or don’t watch the show may not know how they’ve impacted the public. The family has given their audience a great deal of entertainment. After all, they work in the entertainment industry. They have for a long time as well. The production has been airing for 14 years, with multiple spin off shows. A nostalgic 14 years ago, the show first premiered. At the time, Kris Jenner, the mother and businesswoman of the family, was known as the ex-wife of Robert Kardashian. Now, she has made a big name for herself and her daughters. The Kardashian family knew many famous people that got them to their own show. Kim Kardashian was once seen as just a dear friend of Paris Hilton. A little screen time and some scandalous leaks of her led Kim up to the top. Kris Jenner got her into modeling gigs and eye-catching fame. This quickly shot up the whole family’s popularity. Kris Jenner’s whole posse included Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, and Robert Kardashian. They were her first four kids. Kris ended up marrying Bruce Jenner, and she had Kendall and Kylie Jenner as well. This was essentially the cast of the show. Kylie and Kendall grew up on the show as small kids and the rest of the adults just grew older and older. Their rather “emotional” behavior and large sum of money brought interesting events to the reality tv show. As most of these women got into the modeling scene, they eventually became society’s beauty standard. Kylie made a name for herself around her filler lips. She built a whole lipstick line and a challenge dedicated to her pouty mouth. Their fame came across strong, insatiable. Kim K’s butt has become a household topic. All of the looks, fake or not, have been awed at in every opportunity. This unorthodox strategy to fame became the norm and is ultimately the recipe to the Kardashian’s great success.

Although it may seem the show is ending abruptly with no thought, Kris Jenner assures there was deliberation across the whole family. A joint statement signed by Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian West, Kourtney Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Rob Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and Scott Disick said, “After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and several spin-off shows, we’ve decided as a family to end this very special journey. We are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years — through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children. We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way.” Even the E! Network commented, “E! has been the home and extended family to the Kardashian-Jenners for what will be 14 years, featuring the lives of this empowering family. Along with all of you, we have enjoyed following the intimate moments the family so bravely shared by letting us into their daily lives. While it has been an absolute privilege and we will miss them wholeheartedly, we respect the family’s decision to live their lives without our cameras.” All producers were kind and respectful to the Kardashians’ choice. The family is grateful for their experiences. Now, it must come to an end. This production is bound to become a classic and will be missed by many. Along with 2020, everyone will have to kiss Keeping Up with the Kardashians a sorrowful goodbye.
