Martin Luther King Jr. Day is an Important Day

Martin Luther King Jr Day is on Jan. 17th, 2022. The day is coming up in a few days and I would like to remind you about the significant things he did as not only a person but someone who changed history.

Martin Luther King was an African American who changed the world and passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This banned discrimination of public accusation of “race, color, religion, or national origin.” Another accomplishment he achieved was the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which shields African Americans’ right to vote.

Martin Luther King believed in equality for everyone and human rights for African Americans and worked hard to make everyone equal and have the same amount of rights. He protested to end laws that treated African Americans unfairly and make sure that they also get the same treatment as everyone else does.

Martin Luther made the famous speech of “I have a dream,” in front of the Lincoln Memorial, on August 28, 1963, which led 200,000 people to march on Washington. His speech was heavily impacted those who listened to his famous speech and the defining moment of the American Civil Rights Movement. They were inspired by his heart-warming speech and marched alongside many others. He fought for many reasons: voting rights for African Americans, desegregation, labor rights, and other civil rights. He received a Nobel Peace Prize as a brave and determined civil rights activist. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is such an important holiday because it celebrates and honors the inspirational American civil rights leader who did anything to achieve fair equality and treatment for every African American and person.
