South Korea’s New President

Hunter Gourdon

Recently South Korea has held elections for a new president. Yoon Suk Yeol of the People Power Party secured the election by less than a percent. He will have to face current world problems, mainly South Korea’s northern neighbor, North Korea. There are problems in the homeland, like the ongoing gender war. He is new to politics since he was a prosecutor for 27 years. Another responsibility is South Korea’s relationship with the US and China. For years now, the US and South Korea have had a tight security alliance, while they have kept a growing economic relationship with China. As Yoon stated, they have forged an alliance in blood and have fought the tyranny of communism together, and he would like to rebuild that alliance.
