The Chaffin basketball team faced George on January 9th, 2023 at Chaffin Middle School. The Chaffin boys were looking for their first win of the 2022-23 season. George was also looking for the win. Chaffin students were ready for this game since they knew they had a chance for victory.

George was already at a disadvantage coming into the game because they were on the road against Chaffin. The team knew they had a chance to win this game and were hyped up because of that.

“Hustling back in the first half” is what Chaffin basketball player Jeffery Clunn had to say when asked about what they did well to get an early lead. Chaffin was up by at least 10 points in the first half. They fought for rebounds and did well.

In the second half, George scored some points, but there wasn’t any chance to come back against Chaffin. The game was over by the third quarter when Chaffin took a massive lead. This was due to a few players, but notably Chaffin basketball player Baron Hoyt, as he did a good job driving to the paint and finishing. Other notable players were Landon Schwartz and Samuel Robbins.

When the buzzer rang at the end of the 4th quarter, the Chaffin Cougars had won the game in a blowout. The Chaffin boys had gotten their first win and were excited about it. “Really good, considering it was our first win.” says Clunn when asked about how he felt about winning their first game of the 2022-23 season.
