Chat GPT is an AI platform that can answer most questions, copy writing styles, and even help you with your homework, but it may become a concern to teachers at Chaffin Middle School.  

“Throughout the years, we have had students use outside resources, and try to say it was their own product.” Assistant Principal Dustin Clark had stated. Chaffin has obviously dealt with issues of students using outside resources to do their assignments, then say that they had done all that work by themselves. This can lead to plagiarism, which is not recommended whatsoever and can get people in big time trouble. 

Chat GPT is not always bad though. People that have trouble with their vocabulary can use Chat GPT to be more creative in their writing and talking. It can be used as a chatbox if necessary to answer questions (like Siri or Alexa) but much more advanced and is more capable of answering questions from different subjects. Also, teachers can utilize Chat GPT in the classroom to give students examples of the essay they are looking for. “I think there are some beneficial uses outside of education.” Mr. Clark mentioned. Chat GPT is an amazing website to use outside of using the program for homework or for college applications.

“It is cheating to get someone else to do your work, and if you cheat now, you are going to cheat later on in life.” English teacher Robin Owen had stated. Cheating is getting more common, and cheating at a young age may continue to older ages. Cheating can become a habit for people, and habits do not die very easily. This will start to become more of a concern as the years go on.

Chat GPT is a great website, if used correctly. Right now, there are websites being made to detect whether Chat GPT wrote some essay or if the student wrote it. It is impressive how far technology has come, but this specific program may not be the most school friendly one ever made.
