On April 18th, Coach Adam Lucas is having tryouts for the upcoming seasons 9th Grade Boys Basketball team. It was originally meant to be on the 17th, but due to the NWAAC Conference Track Meet he had to delay it to the next day. After being the Coach for the Chaffin Basketball team, Lucas went to work for Southside and be the head coach for the Freshmen Team. This will be the 3rd 9th Grade tryout since the move that took 9th grade from the jr highs to the high schools.

The tryouts will be held in the new Southside Arena from 5:00 to 6:30. anyone from any middle school is welcome to tryout and the only requirement is that every person who plans to tryout must be going to Southside for high school. Before the tryouts, people who had 8th period athletics at the middle schools have been busing over the southside and Lucas has allowed them to go and practice with him before the tryouts so he can get to know them and give him an idea of who will be good for the team.

When asked to comment Lucas had this to say, “Here at Southside, you get a clean slate. It doesn’t matter if you started or played a lot last year, it just matters how hard you work. I’m looking to start kids who will play hard and will show up to practice.
